Within the last 14 months, the United Way of Western Connecticut has merged with The Volunteer Center serving Western Connecticut of Danbury, and The Volunteer Center of Southwestern Fairfield County of Stamford. The centers are now operated under the organizational umbrella of the United Way of Western Connecticut.
These mergers will increase the capacity of the United Way’s volunteer mobilization efforts and will allow the volunteer centers to enhance and expand existing services offered to individuals and the nonprofit community.
“United Way bases volunteer engagement on the premise that bringing people together strengthens a community and can achieve greater impact,” said Brooke Feder, United Way of Western Connecticut Board Chair. “We recognize that in order to affect sustainable change around the issues of education, health, and financial stability on a regional scale, we need to engage a greater number of volunteers who bring passion, expertise and resources to our work.”
By partnering with these volunteer organizations the United Way can achieve this goal and extend efforts to improve the quality of life for many across Western Connecticut.
